Guidelines On Buying Phones Based On GSM 3G 4G LTE Antennas

By Catherine Morris

Buying a smart phone these days can be quite challenging especially if you are unaware of the qualities that define a good cellular device. The main quality that most people evaluate in phones is network coverage capability. Modern phones support LTE, 3G or 4G network technologies. These technologies enable them to browse the worldwide web, send and receive texts and make phone calls. The following are guidelines on buying phones based on GSM 3G 4G LTE antennas.

The terms 3G, 4G and LTE are commonly used when describing cellular data networks. They also refer to the generation of network technology. The oldest of them all is the third generation network abbreviated as 3G. On the other hand, 4G stands for fourth generation network while LTE is an abbreviation for long term evolution.

The major difference between the cellular networks is their data speeds. When purchasing a new smart phone, you should note that old phone models cannot accommodate the network technologies used these days. In this case, purchase a phone that can accommodate network coverage based on your needs. For instance, if you prefer a cellular device that has high data speeds, buy one that can support the latest network technology.

The third generation network is considered as the first technology that supported sufficient data speeds to smart phones. However, some phones previously supported edge technology but their network speeds were significantly lower. One would spend a lot of time while waiting for such phones to load data.

The other reason why third generation networks are supported on smart phones is because of their coverage. A phone can capture these signals irrespective of the weather conditions or geographical location of a place. For you to access these signals on your cellular device, you must insert a special GSM in the phone. Once inserted, the card relays data from the network provider to a phone. However, telecom companies have their own unique GSM cards.

The 4G technology was adopted as a successor to the third network generation technology. Theoretically, it is faster and efficient when compared to its predecessor. However, it has different versions. When this technology is combined with LTE, it is faster and reliable for heavy cellular activities such as streaming movies.

Practically, data speeds for cellular devices usually vary based on the network load and signal strength. Phones are also designed with different network loads. Purchase a device that can load data packets faster irrespective of the signal strength. You should however note that signal strengths also vary based on the geographical location a person is based and other barriers to communication such as wind and rain. In this case, you ought to focus on the type of network technology a phone uses.

When purchasing a brand new phone, avoid being swayed by the marketing strategies regarding its network coverage capabilities. Try to understand the diverse network technologies. You should also try using the phone to surf the web before purchasing. The cost of purchasing the phone also depends on its data speeds. In most cases, phones that support a higher network technology are more costly when compared to those that support a lower version.
